Dedication
It is a great pleasure for publishers and author to dedicate this collection of Limericks
to the memory of Carlow’s John Tyndall (1820-1893), widely regarded as the most
universal scientific genius ever born in Ireland. There is hardly an area covered
here which was not enlightened by him. His fame as a mountain climber, both Alpine
and scientific, suggests the title.
Tyndall scales the heights
Born in Carlow, he gained worldwide fame.
To his lectures in droves young folks came.
He transformed energetics,
Light, sound and magnetics:
Being Tyndallised, germs dread his name.
